The why is simple. My worship, passion and creative outlet has always been writing.
As a toddler I scribbled “words” on paper and wrote the beginning stages of stories and novels as a child. As a pre-teen and teen I filled journals with songs, prayers, musings and conversations with God, finding a rhythm to my words that soothed inner aches and voiced hidden dreams.
As a young adult and into adulthood I continued writing content, papers, manuals, devotionals, magazine articles, blog posts, and much more in between. Even as I studied Social Work in undergrad and graduate school, I leaned toward macro social work and grant writing, loving the research and the storytelling involved while still writing novels and prose that would form the building blocks to my current published works.
My first book, Becoming His: Finding your Place as a Daughter of God, was co-published with a traditional publisher. It served as the foundations for conference invitations and messages, was used for several Bible Studies (including one in Iceland), sold a few thousand copies and was featured in Charisma Magazine’s 2016 December Issue. Fast forward to 2018, and my family feeling the call to move to my husband's native country of Iceland to minister and love the nation through Christ. We would not be here today and could not remain without those who are obedient to the tug of God in their hearts to give. We continue to be thankful.
But our season is shifting and after self-publishing my second book, Milk & Honey in the Land of Fire & Ice in the midst of COVID I felt the stirring to develop a another stream of support in addition to what people so generously give so that we can continue to serve here. In this way, I get to combine all of my passion and what I believe is my call to write, into a way to help others. We receive most of our ministry and family support from the generous gifts of individuals and churches. What we generate here will give us the ability to continue to provide resources, support and eventually work on translations into Icelandic.
It’s been so moving to hear how my books have impacted people in various countries. I’ve also received messages from some asking for advice with the writing and publishing process. I love encouraging others in the process and getting the opportunity to help them in the release of their projects. I want to see people release their words, ideas, and stories into tangible forms of legacy. All for the glory of God.
So glad you are here and so excited to see what it is in your heart to release.
